Le Havre came into the game looking like person wey forgot the password to their own goal account.
Then Ally Samatta said, “Make una shift, I know wetin I dey do.”
The Tanzanian striker came through in the 74th minute, scoring Le Havre’s first goal of the Ligue 1 season against Lyon.
And the goal no come easy.
After substitute Fodé Doucouré found him with a pass, Samatta kept his composure and finished the job.
Le Havre 1–0 Lyon.
At that moment, Le Havre fans were probably already planning victory tweets.
But football had other plans.
Lyon eventually woke up from their nap and Lois Openda equalised in the 87th minute.
1–1.
Just when Le Havre thought they could still steal the three points, Sota Nakamura scored deep into stoppage time.
Everybody don start celebrate.
Fans don enter “WE MOVE” mode.
Then VAR entered the chat.
Goal cancelled.
Handball.
Just like that, the party scattered.
After all the drama, both teams had to settle for a 1–1 draw.
But Samatta still had something to smile about.
The Tanzania captain had officially opened Le Havre’s goal account for the new Ligue 1 campaign.
Man really said: “No goal? Hold my jersey.”
Le Havre may not have collected all three points, but at least their goal drought has officially been cancelled.
