EFCC Recovers ₦1.23 Trillion — Na Who Dey Hide This Money?

 

EFCC has dropped one of those figures that makes you check your calculator twice.

The anti-graft agency says it recovered a staggering ₦1.23 trillion and $684.48 million in alleged proceeds of crime between October 2023 and July 2026.

TRILLION. With a “T.”

Meanwhile, some of us are still calculating whether ₦5,000 can survive till Friday. 😭

EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede said the agency also investigated thousands of petitions during the period.

According to him, 14,476 petitions investigated ended up in court, while the EFCC secured a massive 10,872 convictions.

Basically, EFCC was outside collecting cases like:

“You said what? Bring the receipt. Everybody sit down.” 😂

And the money involved?

₦1.23 trillion plus $684.48 million.

At this point, Nigerian Twitter/X is probably already asking the most important question:

“EFCC, abeg… where una dey recover all this money from?”

Because imagine seeing ₦1.23 trillion enter your account.

Your banking app might actually crash out of respect. 😭

But jokes aside, Olukoyede said the figures show progress in the country’s fight against financial crimes.

The EFCC also continues to face the bigger challenge of ensuring recovered funds are properly accounted for and returned to productive use.

So yes, ₦1.23 trillion has reportedly been recovered.
